How to apply

The admissions process

Admissions to Windrush Church of England Primary School are handled by Oxfordshire County Council.

Parents and carers should list three schools, putting their favourite at number one.

It is advised that a child’s catchment school is among the three schools chosen by parents and carers, but this is not a requirement.

Applications can be made online: https://www.oxfordshire.gov.uk/residents/schools/apply-school-place

Key dates

Are you interested in sending your child to Windrush school in September 2024 (next academic year?)

The admissions process for people seeking a Reception place in September 2024 closed on January 15th 2024.

Parents find out in April if their application to Windrush has been successful.

Who can apply?

Windrush does not currently have pupils in Year 2 and above. The school will ‘fill from the bottom up’, meaning that current Reception children (September 2021 starters) will always be the oldest pupils in the school.

You can view the current admissions arrangements by clicking the link below.

In-year transfers

There may be the opportunity for transferring from other schools if places are available, however we are currently full.

Guidance on transferring to Windrush is available from Oxfordshire County Council; their website explains how the transfer process works  at https://www.oxfordshire.gov.uk/residents/schools/apply-school-place

Nursery

Parents need to express an interest in a nursery place directly to the school office.

The oversubscription criteria can be found on our Nursery page.

If there is availability, parents will also be able to purchase additional hours to their free entitlement.

Nursery Admissions policy

Religious character

Windrush Church of England Primary School is supported by the Oxford Diocesan Board of Education (ODBE) and offers an education based on Christian values. It is a Church of England (Anglican) school in character, but is for children of all faiths and none.

No preference will be given to practising Anglican families in the admissions process.
